Why M-Sport Believes Adrien Fourmaux is Here to Stay

Adrien Fourmaux has been causing a stir in the World Rally Championship with his stellar performances. Despite M-Sport Ford not having the same financial firepower as their competitors, team principal Richard Millener is confident that Fourmaux will remain loyal to the team.

Ever since his debut at the 2019 Monte Carlo Rally, Fourmaux has been synonymous with Ford. He has never strayed to another car brand in the WRC and has been a proud representative of M-Sport since 2020. Despite a challenging first full season at the top level in 2022, M-Sport stood by Fourmaux, helping him develop the Fiesta Rally2 and rebuild his confidence. Their faith has paid off with Three podium finishes from seven starts this year.

Millener is hopeful about retaining Fourmaux in the M-Sport team. He believes that the French driver is content with the team, holds Malcolm Wilson in high regard, and values the team’s unwavering support. Millener also thinks that Fourmaux relishes the challenge of being the underdog with M-Sport and enjoys the idea of being the central figure of the team.

The bond between the team and the driver has been exceptional, and Millener attributes this to the fact that Fourmaux has embraced the English sense of humor and dry wit, making it easier for them to collaborate. Despite a few setbacks, Fourmaux continues to gain confidence with each rally and is constantly fine-tuning his performance.

After achieving his first podium in Sweden and topping his first power stage in Croatia, Fourmaux expressed that he is gaining more confidence with each rally, learning how to drive the car faster and pushing himself further. He also emphasized the need to enhance performance on second-pass conditions, as well as making the car more competitive.

The combination of Fourmaux’s talent and determination, along with M-Sport’s support and resources, makes it clear that the French driver is here to stay. The team’s confidence in retaining Fourmaux seems well-founded as they continue to work together and navigate through the challenges of the World Rally Championship.
