This emerging athlete has been creating ripples in the world of sports, earning the prestigious title of The Advocate’s 2024 Star of Stars Girls Athlete of the Year. She initially made a name for herself in softball, earning numerous all-state honors and even clinching a spot in the LHSCA all-star game. In addition to her softball prowess, Laila’s talents extend to the basketball court, where she led her team to the regional playoff round, showcasing her averages of 18.7 points and 7.3 rebounds. She’s a true team player, always striving to bring out the best in herself and her teammates.
